About Missouri Abortion Fund

Missouri Abortion Fund is a 501(c)3 organization serving Missourians who need assistance paying for their abortions. We are a member abortion fund of the National Network of Abortion Funds. As a member of the National Network of Abortion Funds we are guided by the following values: intersectionality, autonomy, collective power, and compassion.

Missouri Abortion Fund was established in 2014 to ensure that Missourians get the financial support they need to access abortion care. Missouri Abortion Fund has provided funding for more than 12,000 abortions and has provided almost $3,000,000 in financial assistance for patients. Our average pledge per patient is above $350. Cost of a clinic based abortion can range from a couple of hundred dollars to thousands of dollars for patients needing abortion care after the first trimester of pregnancy.

Providing funding for patients, support for patients, and education for those seeking abortion care is critical and that is where our focus stays. We work with clinic partners across the country, many in neighboring states such as Illinois and Kansas. Missourians who travel as far as Maryland, Colorado, Oregon, New Mexico, and Washington DC have all been supported through our funding. We continue to build relationships with independent clinic partners and larger clinics, such as Planned Parenthood to ensure Missourians have financial assistance regardless of where they go for their abortion.

Missouri Abortion Fund has a team of two full time and one part time staff, with a small volunteer Board of Directors. Missouri Abortion Fund is designated by the Internal Revenue Service as tax-exempt as defined in section 501(c)3 of the Internal Revenue Code and, as such, donations to MOAF are tax deductible. Our EIN is 47-1977531.

Statement on Gendered Language

Though the majority of those seeking abortion care are cisgender women, some, including transgender men, non-binary folks, and gender nonconforming people will access prenatal and abortion care in their lifetimes. We recognize the discrimination and barriers that pregnant trans people face, and we affirm the right of all to obtain safe and legal abortions. Referring to “women” only also excludes children and young adults, who also need abortions. We are intentional about using non-gendered language when referring to abortion patients.
